Most downloaders specialise in a single network and treat everything else as an afterthought. FastReels handles Instagram and Pinterest with equal care because the two are used together constantly — a reel gets saved for reference, a pin gets saved for a moodboard, and switching tools between them is friction nobody needs.
The important difference is what comes back. Many tools hand you a re-encoded copy or a resized preview because that is whatever their extractor happened to grab first. FastReels asks the platform for the list of assets it actually holds and picks the largest one, so a Pinterest image arrives at its true source resolution and a reel arrives as the same file the app would stream.
Everything runs in the browser you already have open. There is no extension to install, no app to sideload, and nothing that needs access to your account.
That last point is worth dwelling on, because it is where downloader tools most often go wrong. A browser extension that can read Instagram pages can read every other page too, and an app that asks for your login is asking for the one credential that protects your account. Neither is necessary: the content these tools fetch is already public, and public content does not require authentication to read. Any tool asking for your password is solving a problem it invented.
The other quiet difference is what happens to the file afterwards. FastReels caches a download briefly so that requesting the same link twice is instant, then deletes it automatically — a matter of hours, not indefinitely. We do not build a library of what has been downloaded, and we do not associate links with visitors. There is no archive here to browse, which is deliberate: the safest data to hold is the data you never collected.
None of this makes downloading a licence to re-publish. Copyright remains with whoever made the reel or shot the photograph, and saving something to your camera roll does not transfer any of it. Personal reference, offline viewing, keeping a copy of your own work — all uncontroversial. Re-uploading someone else's video as your own is not, regardless of which tool produced the file.

No. FastReels only reaches content that is already publicly visible without logging in. If a post is private, it stays private.
Saving a post for your own offline viewing is generally accepted. Re-publishing someone else's work without permission is not — copyright stays with the original creator.
No. FastReels runs entirely in the browser you already have open — Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Edge or the in-app browser inside Instagram itself. There is nothing to install, nothing to update and no extension asking for permission to read the pages you visit.
That depends on your device rather than on us. On an iPhone, Safari saves to Files → Downloads by default, and you can move a video to Photos from there; long-pressing the download and choosing Save to Photos also works. On Android, Chrome saves to the Downloads folder and videos usually appear in Gallery within a few seconds. On desktop it lands in whatever download folder your browser is set to.
No. Downloading is not a view, a like or a save inside the app, and it does not appear in any analytics the creator can see. Do still respect their rights — keeping something for personal reference is different from re-posting it without credit.
Yes, and it is built mobile-first because that is where most links are copied. Copy the link from the share sheet, switch to Safari, paste and download. Nothing about the flow assumes a desktop.
Almost always the network rather than the link. Large reels are tens of megabytes, and a weak mobile connection will stall them. Retrying on Wi-Fi fixes most cases. If a link fails repeatedly while others work, the post itself may have been deleted or switched to private since you copied it.
